Bancroft Library

All of the documents, diaries, photos, manuscripts, etc. that had been in storage are being cataloged together under “Mormon Collection” U.S. Western History to be easily accessible. Encouraging and Financing LDS Historical Authors to donate and ship their research material for this collection. Work is underway with volunteers to digitize the material to be available worldwide on the internet.

Brochures

The foundation develops, prints, and distributes several different California Historical brochures, and is constantly developing new informational materials.

Fort Stockton Restoration Project

This project is a removal of graffiti from existing monuments, restoration of the “Charlie” statue, and restoration of the 16 foot colored tile mosaic mural. New metal hand railings on the rock stairway, new water sprinkling system, new drought resistant plants in the area, pruning and trimming of trees and shrubs, replacement of stolen information plaques, repainting the flag pole, adding decomposed granite around the flag pole and monument areas.

Re-Enactors

Living History members dressed in period appropriate attire, who go to historic events, schools, parades, state parks, firesides, etc. and tell the California Mormon Pioneer History, often in first person stories. The foundation helps finance materials for rope making, doll making, etc. and blac powder for the musket and cannon firing.

Teaching Packets

The foundation has developed a teaching packet containing DVD, lesson plans, and teaching materials for teaching elementary students about the Discovery of California Gold and the role played in it by the discharged members of the Mormon Battalion. Other teaching packets are being developed.
