Sierra Nevada Mormon Pioneers

Part of the California Pioneer Heritage Foundation, The Sierra-Nevada Mormon Pioneers are an extremely active group of approximately 75 living history reenactors that are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Most SNMP members live somewhere near the greater Sacramento area and surrounding counties.  Activities and events undertaken by this group span states and continents and have been known to number in the hundereds some years.  See the Sierra-Nevada Mormon Pioneers’ photo gallery.

SCHEDULING SNMP RE-ENACTORS FOR YOUR EVENT

Though this group carries out a full schedule of regular events, they are always looking for new opportunities to share their first-person stories about the brave men and women who pioneered the upper California in their quest for religious freedom and prosperous place to raise their families.  We’re sometimes asked to provide 5th-sunday presentations, in the first-person,  for wards in the area.  We’d be honored to come for yours.  For outdoor events that the local police and fire department approve of, give us an excuse to fire the cannon or muskets in honor of the Mormon Battalion.   Contact Peter Guilbert (pguilbert -at- sbcglobal dot net) for more information.

JOIN US

If you are a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, have a deep and abiding love for 1846-1853 California history and are willing to volunteer and help in some way, you are invited to join the California Pioneer Heritage Foundation as a reenactor.  No, you’re not strange to love this stuff, we do too!   Have you seen our photo gallery?

Membership meetings for the SNMP group are currently held monthly on the 3rd Sunday at the Van Maren Lane Building, 7009 Van Maren Ln, Citrus Heights, CA 95621.  We’ve got experts that can help you with period-correct clothing, and there’s a lot of great information on this website as well.  Come to the meeting, or Contact Peter Guilbert  (pguilbert -at- sbcglobal dot net) for more information.
